This five-volume graded anthology for players of the modern flute, acts as an introduction to the flute music of the early and mid-eighteenth century. Much useful information for flute players is included, such as ornamental realizations, breathing suggestions and advice on tonguing. Notes accompanying each piece introduce the composers and often advise on dynamics and speeds. A separate figured continuo part allows the bass line to be doubled by a string player or for keyboard players to improvise their own accompaniment.
